Battle Fury by Gold-Seven Battle Fury by Gold-Seven
"Maedhros did deeds of surpassing valour, and the Orcs fled before his face; for since his torment upon Thangorodrim his spirit burned like a white flame within, and he was as one that returns from the dead."

JRR Tolkien, The Simarillion--Chapter 18: Of the ruin of Beleriand

An attempt on my part to try out new things--or rather, old things! Just HOW long have I been relying on this crutch called lineart?? ;) I only used a very light pencil drawing underneath this, to give it a more classical, painted feel.

Watercolour and Photoshop

He does look fierce. I can imagine what the fleeing orcs were thinking:'Just hag him up there, he said; don't slit his throat, he said; it will be fine, he said...'

Now that I read that passage again I take back everything I ever said about Tolkien being a sadist; he does give a warning. However I only wanted to see the 'returned from the dead' part and totally ignored the burning white flame spirit-so much like his daddy-part and rooted for this guy till the last page where he decided to completely break my heart by jumping into a volcano.

It doesn't seem to matter which way you do things, they still come out beautiful. Even the depressing or scary ones. :)
