School work has had me totally swamped for weeks, and the muse is still tentative and easily scared off. I'm breaking her in gently, with sketches on playgrounds (left) and during conferences (right). I'm planning to make bookmarks of the Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, and the Silmarillion characters. Not sure yet whether I'll do watercolour or sketchy. I'll probably end up doing at mixture of both, as I like this sketchy look so much and it goes so well with books!

As for who the characters are - the two women may be Èowyn and Galadriel, the one in the middle is Fëanor, the Dwarf and Elf may be Legolas and Gimli. Not sure about those. None of the designs are final.

I'll post the finished bookmarks when they're done; they'll be on sale at the Return of the Ring event in Loughborouh and directly from me. :)

I really like the sketches for the border, with those medieval-tapestry-looking designs. Can't wait to see the finished products!

I like the ideas and compositions going on here. Especially the second woman (from left) and the old man caught my eye. Beautiful sketches.

Bugger. Hopefully summer holidays offer a respite from such things (although summer holidays tend to come with their own built-in distractions...).

But I'm glad they won't be an event exclusive.
