I've always wanted to design a more elaborate signature to use as water marks and such, and today it came to me - a celtic dolphin (Dolfen... see? XD) knot!

I used a royalty-free design from Dover books as a base, but redesigned it as a dolphin - it was a dog initially. Parchment background is my own.

As I know celtic knot thingies of any description are very prone to ending up all over the place, I ask you not to use this in any way, shape or form, please. Thank you!

Wow, this is a great piece! I've never seen a celtic dolphin before, so this one was quite a jaw dropper! Would you consider joining the Celtic-Art group, and showing off some of your works there? :D

Blame the InterWebZ! :D

I'm afraid I don't have a link to the dog - it's in a book I've got.

Oh my gosh I have always wanted to see a celtic knotted dolphin! Really I have! I love the art and I love dolphins and I have always wondered how the two would go together.

By the way I was looking through your gallery and saw you had a character name Aedan...you totally stole that from my character I am writing a story for...just kidding! Well my character's name is Aeden but I spell it Aed-en and yours is Aed-an. It's also the top five names in Ireland so it's easy to understand why it's easier to run into someone else who likes the name. It's one of the best names ever in my opinion! And I am sure our story is very different from one another. :D

Thanks! I've actually started to wonder whether I should rename him - I neer realised how popular the name was in English-speaking countries (I'm German), and I wouldn't want to have him running around with a name everyone's got...

If you want a suggestion and wanting to keep the name Aedan for your character...try spelling it Aodhan. It seems your story is really celtic and spelling it Aodhan...well it doesn't get anymore celtic than that. My sister and I wanted to use it in our story but it just didn't work out. Especially since our character Aeden, it is just his nickname really. Maybe Aodhan well work better for you. It's the celtic way to spell it!

Not exactly - it's the Irish way, and my setting is Welsh. :) The actual Welsh spelling would be Aeddan; I'm considering it, but I'm not sure it's too alien in spelling...

Ah ok! Lol I'm more familiar with celtic Irish than anything. However, I don't see why not you can't use Aeddan. If your setting is Welsh then I think you should go for it! Too often you see the same spelling of Aeden and in my personal opinion I think it will make your character all the more unique! But of course you're the writer and you'll know what's best for him. :) Still think it's the best name in the world! :D

He started out as Aidan and was slightly welsh-ified to Aedan two years ago ;) It could be I've caved in suffieciently to go all the way and make him Aeddan. But that's more of a stumbling block when you read it in a text, I suppose. Aedhan might work though. Hm! Nice one. I'll think about that, many thanks for the kick in a good direction :)

*peeks into thread* I was perusing your gallery again and happened to notice this thread in the comments. Aodhan is actually scottish, not Irish, so you're even more right in not really wanting to use it. It's Gaelic technically, not celtic per se. (I have a character named Aodhan and that's the only reason I know)
