Next in the current batch of commissions is 's Middle-earth Elven character Meneliel. She was really, really fun to do, and I'm very happy with the outcome.
Two more days of holidays, one more commission to finish - I might just make it!!
I like her dress. Do you design all the costumes yourself or do you have references and research clothing? I'm curious--what is your clothing inspiration?
I have a certain amount of "internal stock" - tings I've drawn before, all from roughly the same period and style, so I can mix and match. For the underdress, I was actually going for just crushed silk, googled "silk gown" to see how it fell, and stumbled upon a baptism dress that looked like this. No kidding. I thought it'd fit.
I was commissioned to draw this very same character and I had just as much fun depicting her as you did, it seems. I love the layers in her dress and the attention to detail in the trim. I love your delicious line arts
So, that's my secret.
