Llywelyn is dead. Rhyddion has fallen. And the man who has seen a nation rise against its enemy, and lose everything, is left with his life - and that of the woman he loves, though neither of them can take comfort in that as they are forced to leave Rhyddion behind for ever.

Credits for this pic go to :iconaraniel: for the idea (she drew a scene much like this for my contest last winter; not sure if this will happen like this in the actual story, but be warned, it will be close), and to Mr Helmut Höldl, who was kind enough to send me a high-res version of a picture I used as a reference for the lighting in this piece. (Reference only, this is not a photomanip or anything, some people had asked...)

*love* the colouring, it's so beautiful, and it's very clever how the highlight of the piece is in the shadow rather than the light. And I love the edges of Aidan's cloak!

Oh, this is beautiful! I really love the lighting and all of the tiny details. The coloring really gives it a sort of bittersweet autumn feel, too.
