Well, I couldn't have stuck to the movies - they didn't exist.
There are a couple of characters that might spill into my way of seenig them - all the Lannisters, funnily (Cersei, Jaime, and Tyrion), and there are others where there's not a chance of any spillage. Seriously, that's not Jon Snow! In a fourteen-year-old, the struggles of identity he goes through are touching and authentic. In somebody who looks at least eighteen to twenty, they're just pathetic. That guy looks like a wimp. A pretty wimp, but a wimp.
Well, IIRC your Lord of the Rings drawings were made before the movies as well.
Jaime - no surprise there, although he reminds me of Prince Charming from the Shrek movies somehow. Tyrion - all right, Peter Dinklage does awesome job as the dwarf. As for Cersei, she looks... bland to me. Also, my friend got a bit pissed off about Catelyn Stark looking older than she should, but I still gotta go to the local library and borrow the book.
