This is the companion piece to [link] , also painted for ELFENWELTEN [link] , an artbook companion to the bestselling Fantasy series by German author Bernhard Hennen, which is coming out this month.

The character here depicted is Noroelle, who was banished from her world by the elf queen, for having given birth to a demon's child. To protect the baby from the queen's wrath, she leaves it on the doorstep of a human couple somewhere in a wintry forest.

Watercolour.

Less than I'd expected - he grew up among men and became a healer.

No, as far as I remember, he never does - Farodin and his friend Nuramon enter the human world in order to find him, and they do, but Noroelle isn't there. I don't remember the details very well, I'm afraid; I only read part of the first book because I wanted to know what I was illustrating. :)

the king of the men was sick, and he wanted her child the heel him, but the king was evil and he didn't wanted too, so the king sent his army too get him, but he got kilt by a arrow, its sad, but his power could kill a elf by healing some one. (the humans called him: Gullaume and his mother named him Nuramon)

Wow lover her dress, the atmosphere, her face and essentially her expression while looking at her baby.
I find this an incredibly lovely piece that combines a somewhat dark element with a more soft and maternal very nicely.

Hey, I was so courious about that Elfen-pics, and they turned out very nice! The hole in the tree is a bit an odd eye catcher since its standing out pretty prominently, but I really like here pose and the atmosphere. And the colors. And the folds. They make me go and practice folds ;)

Did you got much background- information for the illustrations, like the style of the clothing, or was that up to you?

I got some very helpful information in the form of photos - Bernhard Hennen had already done a photoshoot on Iceland with extremely elven-looking people dressed up as elves. The pictures were extremely inspirational and make up a large part of the artbook.

I'm so so bad. I've let my inbox get all cluttered and only just sifted through enough to get to your work! Sorry!

It's lovely to see some new stuff from you. Loving this...the background is beautiful! Not entirely sure why, but I especially love the wheel there. Hm. I'm strange like that I suppose haha!

You've really done a great job of capturing the emotion in this scene. How heartbreaking! :( And as usual, your skill with watercolours is so...skilly!

*sigh* amazing....I am almost crying thinking of the part in the book....such an amazing story.
And her face expression is nicely done...and how could she have known that he was going be the human who formed the fundation of the elves' largest enemy.
Grat job!

Oh, this piece is so beautiful. I could stare at it forever. The colors, the mood, the dreary background and sad story, her HAIR...just so mystical and sad and lovely.

Did you make up that story to go with this, or is the piece based on another story? Er, or is it an illustration of one of Bernhard Hennen's stories?

This piece is just exquisite. Love it.

(for the non-German speaking: just some rant about the violence against elves in the novel these cute pics are based upon)

Hm? "Gewalt gegen Elfen"? ;)

Und was ist badoc?

:iconadarion:
Adarion Featured By Owner Oct 30, 2009  Student General Artist
Oh doch, gewiß. Elfen sind überaus schützenswert. (Besonders so niedliche, knuffelige Lairfey wie ich. :) *schurr*)

Badoc, hmm.
Machst Du eigentlich irgendwann wieder private Commissions?
