First Walk by Gold-Seven First Walk by Gold-Seven
I came across Filat's gallery yesterday, and I couldn't believe she'd covered loads of the non-existant scenes in the Silmarillion that I had covered ten years ago, too... most of them involving Maedhros :D

This one struck me in particular - after his rescue, Maedhros, aided by Fingon, makes his first steps. [link]

So I've uploaded this - drawn nearly ten years ago, when I still thought that Fingon was blonde, when I still thought backgrounds were for people with too much time on their hands, and when I underwent a very strange phase of strong ink with coloured pencil. :O_o:

I really like this! I don't know if you would know the Scottish tennis player Andy Murray but your Maedhros here has a strong resemblance (which is great) or so I think anyway!

No, Maedhros isn't based on anyone in particular - he's looked like that in my pictures for seventeen years now ;)

Ah I thought he wasn't. Just reminded me a little in this picture of the tennis player. If I didn't say so before, your pictures are lovely :)

Aww, what are you talking about? Backgrounds are for people with too much time on their hands! :D
But the ink is actually really great, I could never pull it off that well.

(Yay for Maedhros obsessions!)

I think I started doing backgrounds *only* so my hubby would consider looking at my pics. ;)

I like how your older pieces really glimpse at the incredible work that you do today. Obviously this stuff doesn't have the fluidity and dynamism of your modern art, but you can really get a feel for your origins, and you know, you do know what you're doing at this point. The shape of the figures, the sense of weight being exerted on Fingon's shoulder, and of Maedhrod limping. It's all there, just in a rawer, unrefined state. It's great to see.

I'm actually quite intrigued by the strong inking mixed with the CP's. So what? Tools are there to be mixed and matched ;). Oh, and I don't care what you say. I love the clothing! Obviously, it's simpler, but it has charm. Reminds me of old children's book illustrations for stories that I can't even remember anymore :D!
