To all of you who've been telling me "Can't you do somethign other than Tolkien?" for ages: Here you are!
To all of those who'll be sad about the ebb of Tolkien: It's not over completely. There are still some Tolkien commissions I need to finish. As for the rest. I'm squarely placed in the third century BC as of now. I fully realise that'll shock some people. but I don't regret a thing.
Let me introduce Hannibal Barca (247-183 BC), strategist of Carthage in the Second Punic War (218-201), who crossed the Alps with an army (plus elephants) to bring a fledgling Roman Empire to the brink of destruction... and by the end of his life, had to recognize that, if he hadn't been, it would have taken Rome much longer to get together that empire.
(And if it hadn't been for him, Carthage would have been destroyed much earlier. So that's a small consolation. Thankfully, he didn't live to see it fall.)
Yes, major Hannibal fan here. I'm full of surprises. And might make a comic. Sssssshhh!!!
