Maglor and Celegorm go to find out what happened to Maedhros, who set out to meet an embassy of Morgoth and has not returned. Finding the bodies of the warriors in his company but not Maedhros himself, it begins to dawn on them that war on Morgoth has more options than winning or being slain.

Another of my favourite "Missing Silmarillion moments". When Maedhros is captured, nothing at all is ever said about his brothers. Later, they are seen retreating before Morgoth rather than trying to rescue their brother, and while the Fëanoreans are not a particularly loving bunch, at least Maglor would have been riddled with guilt.


Pencil, with some light watercolour wash. (And my, does the result make me happy!)

Characters, as always, are from J. R. R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion.

Wow, it's both really beautiful and disturbing at the same time. I love how you draw poses and clothing. Everything looks so perfect and natural and not at all stiff. And seeing the 1995 version is definitely a morale booster. :XD:

I always love to see your Silmarillion art. The story of Maedhros and his brothers and Fingon is such an incredible story and it needs much, much more love. You fill that gap in my art life <3 haha
