"Sandra Patricia Campbell. Juan Ortega Campos. Sean Canavan. John A. Candela. Vincent Cangelosi…"

It was a cool but clear September morning, and Peter and Hesam stood leaning against the side door of their ambulance near Ground Zero, overlooking the large congregation of people that had gathered to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Theirs was one of two ambulances deployed to Zucotti Park, and like most others on that day, they stood in silence as the names of the people who had died in the attacks were being read by students of a hundred different nationalities.

It's incredible how much of a heartthrob this guy still is for me. We're nearing our twentieth anniversary. :D I'm really lucky that my husband has allowed me to keep him all these years.

*ahem* Maedhros son of Fëanor from Tolkien's Silmarillion.

Well, the book he's from is the Silmarillion, which is marked by a downward spiral from the creation of the world, its ruin through avarice and lies, and the Elves who through their own deeds damn themselves. The one who brought about damnation was this one's father. Maedhros was his eldest son and through a sense of duty carried on on his father's path to the destruction of others and his own. It's a terrible, beautiful, sad story.

I just started reading the Lord of The Rings trilogy, so it will be a while before I get to read the Silmarillion and the other books that pertain to Tolkien's Universe. Can't wait to read it and see more of this character!

Indeed! There were so many great characters in The Silmarillion, but my mind just gravitates towards Maedhros' character.

Maedhros: quite possibly my favorite literary character due to his amazingly beautiful tragic character. (Malgor is a close second) My love affair with Feanor's sons is about as long as yours. My old reading instructor took my worn copy of Lord of the Rings and replaced it with her copy of The Silmarillion and I've been addicted since. :D You're lucky your husband is so understanding! My ex wasn't nearly so kind lol

Anyway, your Maedhros is absolutely stunning and I'm happy to see the short hair, and I adore the blue/lavender/grey eyes! I've always thought since his torture at Angband his hair would be short, and quite frankly, I think it would be a humiliation Morgoth and/or Sauron would have done. Cutting his hair, I mean.

I've broken down now and allowed him to grow it out again, but I can still draw him with the short hair during his captivity. :D
