Nerdanel the Wise, wife of Fëanor.

I think I've been trying to capture Nerdanel for nearly twenty years, and now I've finally managed to capture her gentleness, her inner strength and her sense of humour - because I always thought that you needed that when you're married to Fëanor for a few thousand years, give birth to no fewer than seven boys, and raise them without any major damage...

Winsor/Newton watercolours on moleskine sketchbook.

Yes, Nerdanel has considerable merits for all that she had done! I love the way you capture her, so herself!

Beautiful work, I really like how you did her hair. And yes, she must have had a lot of patience. *chuckle*

I've always loved this lady... because I agree: You've gotta be strong to deal with a head-strong man AND seven male children! I love how she seems to smile and the gentleness, and quirk of humor, in her eyes. It's quite lovely.

Yes, that was really fun and got me into the Silmarillion again last year - just sitting in the playground with nothing to do and doodling Maglor. And look where that has got me now!

Well, I'm very glad you started doodling Maglor :) As, I'm sure, is everyone else who's been enjoying the Silmarillion art you've made since.
