Since a lot of people have asked me how I do those parchmenty sketches (and why the heck I upload them in the digital section), I decided, lazy as I am, it would be quicker in the long run to make a tutorial of it. :D

So, full view and enjoy!

Edited to correct a mistake - Of course the shadows are done using the dodge tool, not burn.

sorry about double commenting, my keyboard is a bit messed up =\ I wanted to add to my previous comment a question. I know many people who are comfortable with tablets(or the mouse even) draw their sketches on the computer instead of on paper. I stick to the old way by drawing it on paper then scanning it in to photoshop. Would this method work if I scan my sketch in?

Absolutely. :) The sketch in the tutorial is pencil on paper too.

but then when you put the texture below it how does it show? Wouldn't the white of the paper the sketch is on block it from being seen?
