I've been wanting to do a new map for my story [link] for ages to reflect some major changes - and here it is, finally!

This went to fast it's frightening - an afternoon, and there we were.

The warrior on the right is the semi-mythological figure Bran Fawr, who will make many appearances in poems and songs in the new draft. A closeup of him can be found here.

Pencil. Background done from scratch in Photoshop 6.0. Custom brushes made by me. :)

I can really see how The Mabinogion was a source of inspiration - your pictures really look like Alan Lee's in the illustrated edition! These pictures are glorious!

I've just been reading it over the past few weeks (it's quite hefty, and it took me ages to find a good condition illustrated copy - thank god for Amazon). I found your picture 'Fingon's Decision', and those beautiful side-panels of yours evoked Lee so much. Although, I might go as far as to say that I preferred yours.

I love maps! This is way more pretty and stylized than my own... Of course, my map was more for practicality purposes then appearances. I had to figure out how far it was from Point A to Point B and Point W, after all.

Love the script and the fact you put castles and villages and churches and such on there.

Yes, my maps always have that purpose first and foremost too. :)

Maybe one of these days I'll have to make a fancy map for my book. Or, better yet, throw money at someone else in exchange for one. I don't trust I could come up with a nifty and stylized version on my own. I'm not so great with the whole coming up with original stuff from scratch in visual art. :)

Lovely work Jenny, just stunning! Are The Rhyddion Chronicles a fantasy, an alternative history, of historical fiction? I can't remember ^^;
