Been away on a class trip with one hundred and twenty-six twelve-year-olds.*
Drawing Silmarillion was the only way to cling to sanity.
Though the two dragon sketches at the bottom were definitely helped along by the mental state I was in last night.
* (We were eight teachers, but it was still a rather exhausting affair.)
Top: Several Maglor sketches accompanied by frolicking horses.
Middle: A contemplative Fëanor.
Bottom: A battle-ready Fingon and a sad Fingon with Glaurung (right) and Ancalagon the Black (left).
So, the next time I fail at terrifying dragons, all I need to push the mojo is a few dozen pre-pubescents. Yay.
Pencil on Canson Mi-teintes pastel paper.
By the way, your sketches are beautiful, I'm not able to draw with my students nearby.
I admire your tolerance - I can barely stand to work in the kids department at the bookstore where I'm employed.
Glaurung looked mischievous, and Ancalagon a bit crazy...
