"Little Jenny is out of her comfort zone. She wishes to be picked up by the service point at the Bay of Balar, preferably by a few good-looking Noldor." :giggle:

This commission for :iconshanxara: really pushed me, lol ;) And I seem to have been so busy making sure I got the armour design right that the powerpack is way off centre. >_< It's her character Rienzi, a Warhammer 40k space marine.

Liquid watercolour on Canson paper.

Gave me the opportunity to play around with some gritty textures. The one on the background was done with - clingfilm (applied to the wet paint and let dry).

Oh - for any in-game questions, please read the comments (by others) or ask his creator; I really have *no* clue about Warhammer. :giggle:

Loyalist Night Lord?

No, this is simply during the Great Crusade, which is why he is looking so... Undecorated. I do not have a talent for designing Chaos armour, so I went for a plain picture of him.

Hooohah, you took on something which always beats me every time I try - a Space Marine! I just can't get the skewered proportions regarding human versus armour right on plain paper, no matter how many of the little models I paint. That armour can be a right nightmare (err, no pun intended, for those in the know).

That is, as others have mentioned, a Space Marine of the Night Lords chapter. For being Chaos Space Marines (that is, once there were many many Space Marines, then there was a big Heresy (again, the archetypal Fall which also Tolkien portrays so well) and about half stayed "loyal" and half went "traitors" and began fighting against the Immortal Emperor of Mankind, most of the time also worshipping one or all four of the Chaos Gods) they are remarkably often not too touched by Chaos (see, however, the recent Night Lords trilogy of novels by Aaron Dembski-Bowden for an interesting take on that).

This one certainly has the presence of a Night Lord, the rulers of fear! I also like the open lefthand fist. It looks so deceptively calm and relaxed. Gorgeous work with the background (and other textures!), too, again highlighting the character rather than drawing the eye unduly.

For all you reckon you're out of your comfort zone, he's certainly got presence; impressive work.

(? there are other kinds of Noldor?? Or is is all relative, and you're just being v. picky ;))

Also mir gefallen die Texturen sehr!

Und der Mensch braucht doch Abwechslung, auch bei der Motivwahl für Aquarelle ;).

Oooh, very nice! Excellent... you should try stepping out of your comfort zone more often :P I love your fantasy/Tolkien stuff but it's nice to see something different from you! :)
