Spirit of Fire by Gold-Seven Spirit of Fire by Gold-Seven
A sketch of Fëanor that started life last Sunday at Hobbit Feest [link], now with a quick and fiery colouring job.

Fëanor is a character from J. R. R. Tolkien's Silmarillion. And this is the first time that I've managed to depict him every inch as I imagine him. The greatest of the Noldor, "of whose deeds came both their greatest renown and their most grievous woe."

Pencil, liquid watercolours on Canson Montval paper.

I think this is probably your best depiction of Fingolfin; it perfectly conveys his remarkable qualities, remarkable without being in the least ADMIRABLE (given that prideful temper of his).

Passt zum "Spirit of Fire".

This I like very much! I feel there is an unwarranted tendency to portray Tolkien's elves as overly slender/willowy in bodily shape and facial structure (often with very narrow faces, pointy chin, and almost pout-like narrow mouths.), and looking overly adolescent.

It's not that I don't appreciate these artistic interpretations as well - but I think it's possible to do some variation on the theme - and Feanor certainly seems like the kind of guy who would rely on natural authorative charisma and aura of command. Something I think you've captured perfectly (well, as close as anyone could. :P ). He looks like an Emperor to me, or an adult Crown Prince if you will.

And it is AWESOME.
