The Darkening of Valinor by Gold-Seven The Darkening of Valinor by Gold-Seven
"Then Fanor ran from the Ring of Doom, and fled into the night; for his father was dearer to him than the Light of Valinor or the peerless works of his hands; and who among sons, of Elves or of Men, have held their fathers of greater worth?"
J. R. R. Tolkien, The Silmarillion

After Morgoth has destroyed the Two Trees with the help of the spider demon Ungoliant, he slays High King Finw on his doorstep, and steals the three Silmaril. Fanor hastens home, to find his father dead and the three priceless jewels he created gone.

Left: Manw, Nienna, Mandos, Yavanna.

Watercolour, pencil and coloured pencil, on 13x19'' Canson Montval paper. About 20+ hours of work.
