"Thus fell the High King of the Noldor; and they beat him into the dust with their maces, and his banner, blue and silver, they trod into the mire of his blood."

JRR Tolkien, The Silmarillion, Chapter 20: Of the Fifth Battle - Nirnaeth Arnoediad

Watercolour and Photoshop.
I remember now why my mother always says she can't read the Silmarillion and that it is too depressing...

Welcome to the Real World...
lol i hear ya on the posing, i managed to con my bf into being my model :giggle: the painting on this is very nice, i'm guessing u edited some of the blood in photoshop? the composition is pretty good, but there's a lot of empty space up at the top, it's a little distracting. nice job on the cloth in particular, using reference turned out great. i think the foreshortening on the left arm might be a little off, but maybe that's just me. this is a really nice piece, tho.

Excellent job on the pose, it looks difficult to draw, even with a model!

BTW, after seeing so many of your Silmarillion pics, I went out and bought the book(I have yet to start it, I want to finish LOTR first).

I like that he's still holding his sword, that he never gave up.
