"Great was the triumph of Morgoth... the realm of Fingon was no more, and the sons of Fëanor wandered as leaves before the wind."
JRR Tolkien: The Silmarillion, Chapter 20 Of the fifth battle: Nirnaeth Arnoediad
In the planning stages for this pic I realized it would be quite similar to " The coming of Fingolfin" [link] in several aspects. So I thought I might just go all the way and turn it into the opposite. Defeat instead of defiance, static instead of movement, dull violets and oranges instead of bright blue and yellow. I quite like the result.
Left to right, front: Caranthir, Maedhros, Celegorm, Maglor, Curufin. Back: Amras (I go by the story that Amrod had been dead since beginning of the First Age).
I really don't know what to say, not good at commenting, but I'd like you to know that I really appreciate your Silmarillion artwork. Also like comparing this to "The Coming of Fingolfin"
Another fantastic image! ... In case you haven't noticed yet , I love the way you draw the Feanorians. I also love that, instead of only depicting the more famous points of the story, you show also show these "in-between" moments.
I like the result too! *squeal* And wow. Maglor's expression is... *frowns at a loss for words* so...calm? It's so perfect for the scene! *promptly faints*
I use too many asterisks, I know. But never mind. I am adding you to my faves. ^~^
I like their expressions, and the colours of the picture... I was just browsing dA, and somehow I keep returning to your gallery... your pictures are great if you need a bit of distraction, if you are supposed to study latin all day (I'll have a test tomorrow... )
