The harp no longer sings by Gold-Seven The harp no longer sings by Gold-Seven
:deviation: Print available here:  www.etsy.com/shop/JennyDolfen

From J. R. R. Tolkien's Silmarillion, though not a direct scene.

Schmincke watercolours on Canson Montval paper, 29x40 cm.

After casting his Silmaril into the sea, Maglor is left to linger on the Hither Shore - never again coming among his people, caught in a world of his own where music no longer brings consolation, surrounded by the ruins of the former greatness of the Noldor, whose downfall he had a part in.... quite possibly his brother's fortress of Himring, which alone was not swallowed by the sea. :(

Pretty much a re-do of this one. fav.me/d2whtx

This is gorgeous. Amazing detail and emotion... :D I love the Silmarillion, I love your artwork... Put the two together, and I'm in heaven! (Or Valinor, rather.)

I doubt it... probably something sadder. Eärendil may have brought hope to Elves and Men, but not to the house of Feanor.

The fair and melancolic song by the great Minstrel Maglor ...
I composed a meldoy for the Poetry... but it is far from being not bad ...
The only well succeeded  trial on poetry adaptation into song was With the Jabberwocky, by Lewis Carroll.
I'm Not a talented bard, nor a poet nor painter...

This is very beautiful -  I like his expression. :) The background caught my attention as well. I just love the sunbeams. Were they hard to paint? ;)

No - they were the light bits that I left standing. I painted the surroundings, not the beams themselves. :)

Oh wow. I haven't read anything but the Hobbit, but I instantly felt like this felt 'Tolkien-ish' when I saw it. You definitely put a lot of work into it. D: I had no idea how many layers of preparation went into getting colors like that in water colors! That is really cool! Thank you for also posting a tutorial!

This comment may disappear from first page sooner or later, but - people, that picture up there, it looks even better in real life. My facsimile print arrived with a speed like the wind, and it is hard to tear my eyes away from it even to write this!

You love her art? Buy it. Do yourselves the favour. It is worth every little penny. And paying an artist encourages them to make more art, and in some cases, even helps them doing so. But mostly, do yourselves the favour for your own well-being - it is the best thing I've done in a very long time.

Just... wow. Maglor. With his harp. On my wall. And on my screen. This can't get much better.
