This is mostly a good-bye. I've had great times here, met great friends, whose presence in my life is something I don't want to miss. A few of them are still here, and they kept me from taking this step years ago.
Now, they're getting less and less. This site still has great artists and thoughtful commenters. But the percentage of comments containing pure idiocy is getting more and more every month. I am sick and tired of sweeping my galleries free of comments featuring masturbation, cum, tits, insults, and confrontational ignorance as a natural part of my daily routine. This is not my life anymore. This isn't my site anymore.
I have already moved most of the main offenders (deviations that just piled up idiocy in the comments) to storage a few months ago, and have now disabled comments on all my artwork.
I may still post some work here with comments turned off, but if you want to know what I'm up to (or talk to me about it - which I'd love!), the best place for that is Facebook: www.facebook.com/TheArtOfJenny…
and, of course, my blog: www.goldseven.de
And there's Tumblr, though I don't post that much there. goldseven.tumblr.com/
I want to say thank you to all my friends here over the years. You've meant a lot to me. And still do.
Edit: And wow, thank you for all your understanding.
I wasn't aware that there are so many other artists who have already left dA due to the same sort of thing - though it doesn't surprise me. Sadly, I think it's just a general development all across the Internet - the great time of art sites was from the late nineties until the rise of Facebook. I like Facebook as a connecting device, but there's little doubt it has changed Internet communication, away from comments and towards a mere "like". I can't say I'm free of that either. (But at least I don't talk about masturbation on people's artwork. Ts.)
